Manchester Orthopaedics
Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that often can be performed on an outpatient basis. The incisions and consequential scarring are much smaller, the healing and recovery times are faster, and there is less post-operative discomfort than traditional surgery. Our doctor, Vipul Dua, MD, is board certified in the latest techniques and innovations of arthroscopy. Our
Manchester Orthopaedics skilled team will take a thorough medical history, perform a comprehensive physical examination, and order xrays or an MRI in order to get a clear picture of your injury and optimum treatment options. Working together as a team, we will discuss which procedure is your best choice.
Arthroscopy is a procedure for diagnosing and treating joint problems. Dr. Dua will insert a narrow tube attached to a fiber-optic video camera through a small incision. The view inside your joint is transmitted to a high-definition video monitor. This allows the surgeon to see inside your joint without making a large incision. Surgeons can even repair some types of joint damage during arthroscopy, with pencil-thin surgical instruments inserted through additional small incisions. Knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, ankle, and hip joints are often treated using arthroscopy. Some conditions which benefit from this minimally invasive procedure may include loose bone fragments, damaged or torn cartilage, inflamed joint linings, joint infections, torn ligaments, and scarring within the joint from injury or disease.
It is our mission to provide you with the best options for an optimum outcome. In order to accomplish this goal, we emphasize the importance of team work - our doctors and our patients working together to educate, decide, treat, and rehabilitate after an injury. If you are interested in learning if arthroscopy is right for you, make an appointment to see Dr. Dua today. Our
Manchester Orthopaedics dedicated staff will work with you to make the health care decision that fits your active lifestyle.
